Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD) Test Measures

Image of hearing testingAuditory processing tests challenge auditory processing by presenting the auditory system with distorted, degraded, filtered, or time-altered auditory stimuli. Different types of auditory processing tests allow the audiologist to assess specific auditory functions such as dichotic listening, temporal processing, monoaural low redundancy, speech in noise, and auditory attention. These tests include challenges to a variety of auditory processing abilities, for example the ability to recognize speech in noise, perceive the timing of sounds, or understand competing information heard simultaneously.
